It’s a New Year!!!

Standard

Last year was a great year of starting my blog. Thank you to each one who has read and followed it!!! I plan to continue posting as The Lord leads me.

I had planned to start this blog January 1st 2014, but didn’t get started until March! It was something inspired by God to do, and I finally went forth with the dream He put into my heart. My first post was one of the most trafficked posts about dreams. I may not have kept up with it as much as I had planned, but I did it! I didn’t quite keep my challenge in November going but who knew how busy life would be during the Holidays?! Haha.

So, knowing it’s the beginning of a new year, let’s start dreaming and goal planning for this new year in your life!

If you have a New Year’s goal, resolution, or dream, don’t wait months before starting it or you may never do it. We are just in the first week of the new year, so if you haven’t started pursuing those goals, begin NOW! Here goes to new beginnings!

A Piece of My Heart

Standard

Almost 14 years ago, I was privileged to go on my first missions trip to Mexico. If you have ever been on a missions trip, you know it is life changing. (My future husband had also went to Mexico a week prior to my first trip.) I was able to return there a year later but have not been able to go back due to various reasons. However, my heart (and my husband’s) has always been toward Hispanic people, their culture(s), and the Spanish language since that time. As a teenager, I couldn’t understand the life they were having to live. We literally drove over a bridge from Texas into Mexico and there was a drastic change. The services impacted my life forever. I enjoyed loving on all of the babies, kids, and meeting new friends. A piece of my heart went toward those people. God also began to birth a dream inside of my heart that I plan to share some day in the future.

In February of this year, my husband and I ministered together at a Hispanic youth rally about our most passionate topics – purity and relationships. We were able to join together in worship and fellowship. Of course, we were the ones to walk away being blessed. We heard an amazing testimony of God’s forgiveness and how He can erase your past to propel you into your future. It brought back many memories in a different way since these students have the American culture in their lives, but none the less it brought back my heart for Mexico.

Recently, I have been thinking about this God-size dream he placed in my heart so many years ago. I feel as if now should be the right timing but know it has to be in His timing, not mine. So this week I came across an unfinished coloring page that my daughter had colored in Sunday school. In the corner was this scripture, “I trust in you, O Lord” (Psalm 31:14). I saw it right as I had been praying to God about some God-Sized dreams that I have. I don’t know when they will be fulfilled and how it’s all going to happen. By reading this Scripture, He reminded me to put my trust in Him. Just like Moses’ mother had to do for him. She knew Moses had more for his life and she had to put her trust in Christ. By her being obedient and trusting God, He in return allowed her to help raise him.

When God places someone or something upon your heart, never give up or loose what He has instilled in you – whether it be a desire, dream, or a promise. Go after those God-Size dreams!

Dreams for 2014

Standard

January 1st means New Year’s resolutions, goals, and dreams. For some of us, today on March 25th, we feel accomplished. However, some of us feel as though we have let ourselves down either by not doing what we had planned or by already giving up what we began three months ago. If you’re like me, there are some goals/dreams I have begun. However, there are other goals that I need to improve. One such goal was to begin writing this blog on January 1st. After three months I’m excited to begin this new journey in life.

“Just write. I will give you what to write.” These words were spoken to me by God himself. I was actually vacuuming and praying in that instant about how I would still love to begin a blog and write. However, I had been contemplating “what” to write. I had thought about these topics: young motherhood, teenagers, ministry, etc. These were just a few of my topics. It’s probably been close to a year since I had a desire or a dream to want to write. I do not feel as if I am a very creative writer per say but believe there are things in my heart that I feel The Lord wants me to “speak” and share to others.

There was a tongues and interpretation given at our church in the beginning of this new year. I tried to write it all down but some may be paraphrased. “March into this new year. Don’t just tip toe but march into this new year. Take my gifts I have for you (and use them).”  Whatever gifts HE has for me, I want to use them.

This will definitely be a new adventure for my life but I believe in faith this is a new journey Christ wants me to set out upon. So, here I am beginning this new DREAM for this year… Yes, it is three months into the new year, but what a better time to do it than in the present and NOW.

What were your new goals, resolutions, and dreams for 2014? What has Christ placed upon your heart? Have you begun pursuing them or are you waiting for a promise? I want to encourage you to step out in FAITH this year! Why wait?! Begin pursuing it NOW! Just as I felt The Lord telling me to “just write” and HE will lead me in each blog, you too need to “just ______.” Don’t have a dream? Ask Christ to give you new dreams for your life. Continue in to this year with a PURPOSE.

Matthew 1:19-23
New International Version (NIV)
19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet[a] did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[b] because he will save his people from their sins.”

22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”[c] (which means “God with us”).

Joseph could have ran away and divorced Mary. He could have run from God’s will for his life. Instead, since The Lord spoke to him, he stepped out in faith. He allowed this dream to change his “course” and followed God’s purpose for his and others’ lives. We need to be like Joseph and follow after the dreams, plans, and purpose God has for our lives.
